Chocoholics Rejoice!

While Vancouver, BC, is noted for its fine restaurants, there's a way to enjoy one particular dining experience that stands out -- which you, and your dining companions -- will never forget!

Here's how:

1. Visit Vancouver on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night.

2. Call the Fleuri Restaurant at 1 604 642 2900 to make advance reservations for the Chocoholic Buffett.

3. Eat lightly that day.

4. Pack your camera and photograph the artistically-arranged treats. Otherwise, people back home will think you made the whole thing up! Request the early seating, as patrons tend to dig in and dishevel the collection as the evening progresses. My family schedules annual Sister's Weekends, and even though it was a rainy Friday night in Vancouver, we three got dressed up and taxied over to the Sutton Place Hotel's Fleuri Restaurant for a truly warm and cozy evening.

Have you ever fantasized an endless supply of all-you-can-eat chocolate in Lightened_Chocolate_Buffet_Sylvia_1.JPGvarious forms? (No, of course Mom wouldn't approve! And that adds an irresistible "being naughty without getting caught") aspect to this endeavor. Well, pinch yourself! This is the real thing -- and this dessert heaven exceeded our expectations.

Imagine a three-tiered chocolate fountain with bits of fresh fruit for make-your- own-fondues. White chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, chocolate-covered shortbread cookies, chocolate-marbled cheesecake, and a variety of chocolate pies (including pecan and butterscotch combinations) and chocolate truffles were just a few of the choices.

Alas........is not humanly possible to taste everything. Going back three or four times will be the limit for most people.

But, be sure to save room for the ultimate treat, prepared to order for you by a chef standing amongst the dizzying variety of selections. He'll whip up crepes with your choice of fillings, such as sorbet, ice-cream, berries, etc. And maybe drizzle it a bit with the free-flowing chocolate fountain.

The elegant restaurant is located within the Sutton Place Hotel at 845 Burrard Street in downtown Vancouver.
